Update, leave your comment on this post to enter to win a signed edition of the book Crown of Serpents!

I know, its been a few weeks since the holiday… now that the christmas trees down, the bits of wrapping paper out of the nooks and the couch, and all the returns of unwanted gifts made, its time to catch up.   With the holidays past and the cold embrace of winter upon us, what better time to catch up with a warm conversation and some reminiscence of what was the Masonic year 2009.

This week on Masonic Central, join us as we go over the highlights (and low lights) of Masonry in 2009 and look ahead at some of the trends that seem to be already charting the course of 2010.

A devoted student of the Western Mystery Traditions, Greg is a firm believer in the Masonic connections to the Hermetic traditions of antiquity, its evolution through the ages and into its present configuration as the antecedent to all contemporary esoteric and occult traditions. He is a self-called searcher for that which was lost, a Hermetic Hermit and a believer in “that which is above is so too below.” Read more about Greg Stewart.

  1. A great show. It really keeps masons all over the world in contact. Brings some life voices into the common internet connections I have. I love to listen to the special shows and to the tabletalks.

    Fraternally,

    Thomas

  2. Bros. Greg and Dean – Hard to believe how many shows have been aired thus far! Congratulations on continuing the show, amid family, work, and fraternal obligations.

I thoroughly enjoy the show, and you have done a great job evolving the format. The formal guests have been insightful, and the recurring commentators have added greatly to the discussion. I would welcome ongoing participation by Cliff, Chris Hodapp, Stephen Dafoe, and Fred. All add greatly to the show, and their individual endeavours are interesting to follow, as well.

It was wise to cut back on, if not remove entirely, the call ins. Risk is high for killing the narrative flow, and I’m dumbfounded by possible language issues. Monitoring the online chat enables listener questions. Limit the call in to just the A-list.

I still wish the audio quality was better. Specifically more consistent volume levels. Playback often necessitates perpetual volume adjustments to ensure all speakers are discernable.

I like the news segment. It is well produced. My preference would be less emphasis on local lodge accomplishments, and more larger stories, even it might be things of interest to masons, rather than originating from a lodge. This could include items from appendant bodies.

Possible topic: Major masonic retailers – what are they making, selling, trends? Might be an interesting to hear how things have changed and what is involved in creating the products.

In the year ahead, I’d welcome further exploration of the bodies.

You guys are doing a great service to the Craft, and your work is much appreciated.

  3. Hello Brothers,

I very much enjoy the show, and although I’m rarely able to listen live, I always catch it by Tuesday at the latest.

I’ve only just started listening to the Table Talk episode, so I can’t really comment on that, but I will make remark on a little something from a previous show that could possibly be overlooked:

When Br:. Michael Poll was on your show, the two of you and he spoke of the importance not only of buying Masonic books, but also from WHERE you make your purchases. Buying from Amazon may save the buyer a dollar or two, but buying directly from Masonic Central, or from Cornerstone Publishing, or directly from other Masonic sources provides much needed financial support for very valuable Masonic resources (like this show). And it was with that in mind that I asked that my Christmas book requests came directly from Masonic sources, which they did.

And since we’re on the topic: Reading more than one Masonic text at the same time can lead to some great synaptic connections. For example, in co-reading Br:. Lon Milo Duquette’s THE KEY TO KING SOLOMON’S KEY with Br:. John Nagy’s BUILDING HIRAM has led to some great personal connections for me, spurring on some writing of my own.

So, thanks, Brothers. I look forward to listening throughout the rest of 2010.

  4. Great show, Greg and Dean. A comment on the laughing. I don’t mind it at all. I look forward every week to listening to the podcast. Because of your fine program I have bought several items from your guest and have never been disappointed. Keep up the good work.

  6. Hey Bros. Greg & Dean. Another great show as usual. I was just initiated last week into Washington #46 in Portland, OR and on my journey as a seeker and a candidate going through and listening to all the back episodes was very helpful and inspiring. Thanks guys.

  7. When you guys covered Georgia, it made it seemed like it was all resolved.

My understanding all resolutions on race failed and all edicts of the outgoing Grand Master failed and expired.

  8. Congratulations to Chris Murphy, Travis Apollonius, and Kristofer Laxdal, winners of the this weeks contest! Look for an email soon for details!
