Masonic Poetry - Br. Uwe Riches

Why

I hear the sound of distant thunder
Echo all around
I see the tragedy of young ones
Lying on the ground..
I see the fathers' sons and daughters
I hear the mothers crying
Nothing left for me to do
I, whisper a prayer for the dying

The bushes suffocating heat
No mercy from above
Where everything reminds me
I'm a stranger in a strange land
The rhetoric of the politicians
Is nothing more than lies
The guardian angels are not here
And every mother cries

Move out, move out is all I hear
I pray when the bullets fly
Fear is here and all about
And all my dreams take me home again
I, whisper a prayer for the dying

I'm so scared I can't sleep at night
I try to carry my heavy load
Walking down the Armageddon road
I, whisper a prayer for the dying

I can't run and I can't hide
I can't show what I feel inside
I'm going crazy, I'm going insane
I know I'll never be the same again
I, whisper a prayer for the dyings
